How does it work?
We come to your home, bring in the mail, any papers, packages, or flyers at the door;
water plants; rotate lights and curtains if you would like; feed and water your pets; poop
scoop, scoop litter, and clean up any accidents; administer medications if necessary; and
play with your furry family!
What does it mean to be insured and bonded?
Hug A Love Pet Sitting, LLC carries liability insurance that protects from financial loss in
the event that a sitter is liable for accidents that occur while caring for your pets. A
dishonesty bond gives the client peace of mind that they will be reimbursed if anything is
stolen from your home. This is what all plumbers, electricians, and any workers who
enters a person’s home to do work should have.
What is the purpose of the free consultation?
The consultation allows the pet(s) to meet the sitter; the sitter to learn the feeding,
medicine, and exercise schedules; and where the food, medicine, and supplies are stored.
The consultation is also a time for the prospective client and the sitter to ensure everything
is a good fit.
Why are pet sits in my home better than a kennel?
Pets are more relaxed and comfortable in their own familiar surroundings. If you have a
pet that has anxiety in a kennel or around other animals, then pet sitting is a necessity. A
pet sitter that comes to your home also provides you the convenience of not having to run
your pets to a kennel and pick them up before and after your trip.
How do I pay?
We accept cash or checks on the first visit of your trip.
Are there any breeds you won't care for?
We care for dogs, cats, fish, birds, small mammals, reptiles and other small animals.
Basically, just about everything. As long as your specific pet is not a threat to us, we will
care for any breed. If the animal is skittish or fearful around unfamiliar people then
additional visits may be required to socialize the animal and to create a bond between the
animal and the sitter. For those visits, the clients must be present and a visit fee will be
charged.
How much time do you spend at my house?
This varies with the situation. We always spend at least twenty minutes, sometimes up to
an hour. It is very dependent on the animal's needs, and your requests.
Do you do home checks even if I have no pets?
Yes, we can check on your home, bring in delivered mail and packages, alternate lights and curtains, take
out the trash, and water plants; whatever it takes to keep your home secure and to have the lived-in look.
Why can't I do every other day sits for my cat?
Cats are notorious for getting into places they shouldn't. Cats can accidentally lock
themselves in a room and not have access to food and water. If a pet becomes ill, 48 hours
may be too long to wait to get medical attention.
Do you do any visits just for walks?
Yes, price will depend on how long the walk is and how many pets need walking.
What if my pet is on medication?
All of our sitters can administer oral or topical medications. We can also do subcutaneous
medicine. As long as your pet is not a threat to the pet sitter, we can administer oral or
subcutaneous medications on any sit visit.
How do the sitters discipline animals?
We use positive reinforcement only. We never hit, spank, slap, yank a leash, yell at, shock, kick, or grab
an animal. If there is a concern such as toilet training issues, running away, chewing items in the home,
etc., the sitter will inform the client of the issue and a solution will be implemented.
What if my pet becomes ill while I am gone?
In the event that the pet becomes ill, the sitter will contact you and a plan of action will be determined. If
the animal needs to go to the regular vet or an emergency vet, we will safely transport him. Each clients
has a Veterinarian Release on file which stipulates the regular vet, an emergency vet clinic, and a
maximum dollar amount. This Veterinarian Release also gives Hug A Love Pet Sitting permission to
transport the pet. Before leaving home, each client should contact and inform the veterinarian that a pet
sitter will be caring for the pets, and to set up a credit card on file that will be used in case the pet needs
to be seen. Clients are responsible for all veterinarian fees.
What happens in case of a blizzard or other disaster?
Your sitter will make every attempt to safely get to your home and pets. On the slim chance that this is
not possible, the sitter will call the emergency contact and you. Arrangements will be made for the time
the sitter cannot access your home.
Who do you suggest I use as my emergency contact?
Your emergency contact should be someone near your home who has keys/access to your home. The
reason is that in case of a blizzard or other disaster your emergency contact can go to your home and help
in the interim.
What results can clients expect from Hug A Love Pet Sitting?
